Weekend Ramblings…

Been a pretty quiet weekend.  Brian left for North Dakota to see his brother on Friday morning, very EARLY Friday morning.  And guess who had to take him to the airport???  I’m glad he took the time to go and spend time with his brother, plus he really needed the break.  I’m sure he is having a great time…I just miss him and so does David.  David has been sleeping with me while Daddy has been gone.  It might come back to bite me in the butt when Daddy comes home and David has to return to his own room, but I will deal with that when it happens.

Took my Mom to see her regular doc on Thursday.  We talked about her sleep deprivation and he started her on the lowest dose of Lunesta.  I gave her the first dose on Thursday night, Friday morning Mom was so out of it she couldn’t follow simple instructions.  Come to find out later that she didn’t take her Thursday night pills until that morning, which explained why she was so out of it.  Subsequent doses doses have been taken in the evening and for the most part, seem to be helping.  She is still getting up in the middle of the night.  What I think is happening is that she is waking to answer the call of nature, then she just assumes its morning and gets dressed, etc.  Invariably she wakes me up to ask a question and I tell her to go back to bed, and she does, seemingly sleeping soundly until morning.  What is most notable is her lucidity…it’s been quite a bit better since getting more sleep, which is a good thing!  She is still easily confused, but at least there isn’t all the accusations and anger.

We made it through the first "week" (3 days) of school.  David is loving second grade!  So far he says it’s much better than first grade!  Hey, it works for me!  His teacher said she is going to start having the parent helper come in next week…which is what I am looking forward to.  I so enjoy helping out with the kids.  I’m curious to see Ms. Russell’s teaching style.  I really admired Mrs. Austin’s teaching style.  I love to watch and learn, picking up new techniques to use with David at home as well as with the kids when I am helping out.

I was notified that I won a Toshiba laptop on Friday.  Actually, I was notified way before Friday, but only found the e-mail on Friday.  It was a drawing that I entered a few months ago, and honestly don’t remember much about it.  I’ve never been real big on entering contests or sweepstakes, but if there is an easily remembered web address where I can enter, I am more likely to do just that.  I would never do it in the past, but when my best friend Susan was a stay-at-home-Mom she used to enter every contest she got her hands on, be it the ones in the Sunday coupon section or in magazines, where ever she found them, she entered them.  And she would actually win stuff.  That was when my attitude changed regarding these contests and for a while I actively sought out contests to enter…not so anymore.  Just not enough time for it now…but occasionally I will see on when I am web surfing and click over to fill out an entry form.  It paid off this time.  I got the UPS notification late on Friday and it should arrive this week.

OK…enough boring ramblings for today.  Hope you all have a great Labor Day Weekend.

  1. Congrats on the Laptop win, that is really cool. I always enter contests but never win but I know a ton of people who do!
