I tried to post this yesterday, Saturday, but while I was typing it out TypePad went down…so now I have to try and remember what I wrote.
I had a photography job planned for today and wanted to do a dry run with all the equipment to make sure I didn’t have any "kinks" and also to gather all the stuff I was going to need in one place so I could get it all in the car.

Once I had the whole "studio" set up I figured I would take some pictures…only Brian was sleeping and David was insistent on running around in his skivies. I finally remembered that I’d been wanting to do a scrapbook layout about David’s almost constant companion, Cupcake.
I took David to Build-a-Bear for Valentine’s Day, 2005…instead of choosing a bear, David decided on a Border Collie puppy. I’ve already done a layout about acquiring Cupcake, but what I need to do is a layout about the subsequent Cupcakes. Yep, I confess, when the going has gotten hard, we’ve replaced the Cupcake. When David first got Cupcake, they went EVERYWHERE together. The first Cupcake got very dirty and very smelly, so we threw him in the washing machine. We’ve put other stuffed animals in the washer and dryer and they came out looking like brand new…not Cupcake! Cupcake came out looking like he’d had a bad perm! It was bad and David didn’t want anything to do with him! It broke my heart so much, I had to go back to Build-a-Bear to get another one.
The second Cupcake was destroyed in November of last year. We got Daphne on November 5th, but we also had a Scout meeting that night. David didn’t want Daphne to be lonely while in the crate so he lent her Cupcake. Daphne ate Cupcake’s nose, an eye, and the tail. David was not happy! So I ordered another Cupcake. In fact, David was so desperate that I paid to have it overnighted (which cost almost as much as the damn dog). When it didn’t arrive, I couldn’t find where I had received a copy of the order from B-a-B, so I thought the order had failed and went on to order another one to be overnighted. So the next day I received 2 new Cupcakes! UGH!
David is currently on Cupcake #3 with one in reserve. Cupcake the Third is looking very thread bare, his coat is matted in spots and bald in others, the tip of the tail has been gnawed off, and one of his eyes has a huge gash across it. Gigi has patched many weak seams. The longer he has this Cupcake, the harder it’s going to be to convince him that it’s just a cleaned up version of the one he’s always had. Oh the tangled webs parents weave to keep their kids happy.
