It was a MONDAY, to be sure! David ended up staying home from school. I’m not entirely sure if he is fighting a cold or allergies…he wanted to stay home but the deal was that he had to stay in bed. Usually I tell him that he has to stay in bed, resting, with no TV, toys, movies, anything…well, maybe Cupcake or the dogs. When he says OK rather than going to school, I know he really isn’t feeling good.
I ran errands, got my car smogged…a week late! So I got hit with $20 or $30 in late registration fees. Hit the post office and finally saw Francine. I love her! We are so on the same wavelength. We have the same beliefs, read the same books, enjoy the same movies. If she weren’t my therapist, I think we would be close friends, know what I mean?
When I got home is when the trouble started. Mom said she wasn’t feeling great and thought she would lie down. She no sooner got into bed and she was up coming to ask me a question. I answered it and she went back to bed. A few minutes later she comes back down the hallway again and calling me Jan. I remind her that I’m not Jan, I’m Pam. "Oh you aren’t Pam…Pam is heavier". OK…not quite sure how to take that! But her question was basically, what was her name. She honestly couldn’t remember her own name…OK…NOT GOOD. But she insisted I was Jan. OK, she can’t remember her own name, but wants to argue with me about my name. So I show her my driver’s license. You know what her response was? "Well if you can make it dark when it should be light and light when it should be dark, then changing the name on this license should be easy!"
OK…it’s funny now, but at the time I was getting really frustrated! She can’t remember her name or my name, but she can remember I have the power to change light to dark and vice versa! Can you tell I am trying to be logical with a person whom logic doesn’t work for?
I showed her pictures of Jan and her family, she insisted that was Pam with Jan’s, my, kids…and that she couldn’t figure out why David was here with me when he should be with Pam (Jan). Finally Jan called on the phone and set her straight…I must have been speaking some foreign language Mom couldn’t understand…but Jan apparently speaks that language fluently.
By the time this was all done, I had to get out of the house for a while. I got everyone fed and decided to go see a movie. I finally saw "The Illusionist". It was one I had wanted to see, but I had it confused with another period/magician movie that is coming out this week with Hugh Jackman (hubba, hubba) and Christian Bale. Anyway…I liked Illusionist…Edward Norton was a nice piece of eye-candy and I just love period films…really liked the ending of this one.
Then I decided that I hadn’t been to a casino for a while. I decided to stop at the Sun Coast on the way home and play some penny machines. I was playing a Twilight Zone progressive…progressive jackpot being $1.8 million. Sounds like my kind of jackpot! While I didn’t bring home the $1.8 million, I did bring home $600+. Not too bad for an hour on a penny machine. And if nothing else, it did wonders for my state of mind! LOL
Just had to share how the day went. It was one for the books.
