Where the Hell is Matt?? 2008 So someone sent me the link above. And after seeing the video, I explored his site (www.wherethehellismatt.com). I even spend 90 minutes watching a lecture he did at a college. If you do decide to watch the video, make sure you navigate to the video page and see the [...]

We had to see Wall*E today! I’ve been looking forward to this movie. Generally I am a huge fan of Pixar movies…some more than others. Since they, Disney and Pixar, didn’t really give much of the plot away leading up to the release of the movie, I couldn’t wait to see what the story was. [...]

“Nuthin…jus chillin” I realized I hadn’t posted in a while…thought I should come and post something. Then as I was trying to figure out what to title the post, that dumb commercial with “Bush” and his “Advisors” came on the telly. Well…that sounded as good as anything I had for a title. We all made [...]

This would be my Pop. This photo is about 4 years old. A lot has happened in the last four years! I had the pleasure of knowing Kenneth Steinke for a little more than 19 years…not nearly long enough in my book! I started to call him Pop when it became clear that Brian and [...]

He left us about 10 minutes ago. He went the way he wanted, at home, surrounded by his family. No regrets, but lots of sadness. We will miss him terribly.

The hospice CNA was by around 2:30 this afternoon and asked how long the labored breathing had been going on. “Today”, Sonya and I said. Rosa, Pop’s CNA, said that when the breathing looks and sounds like Pop’s does right now, we are close to the end. [...]

Since Kenny (Pop) came home from the hospital, it seems I can’t help but reflect on the last phase of my Mom’s life. I have wondered if I did right by my Mom by putting her in that nursing home? As I look around at Kenny and Rochell’s bedroom and see how it’s transformed from [...]

Waiting… Waiting at home, phone in hand Waiting in the car, radio volume low, to hear the phone should it ring. Waiting to go to bed, dreading that middle of the night call. Mom spending the night in a bed next to Pop…waiting to come home and go home. Sonya sleeping at the folks house [...]

I was talking to Porter last night and he said something that really struck me. We, my hubby’s family, have been given a gift. We are going to be bringing Pop home to spend whatever days he has left on this Earth to be surrounded by love and laughter. We will all get the opportunity [...]

The docs seem to think there is nothing left that they can do for Pop, other than send him home and keep him comfortable. Brian is heading to the hospital where he will meet his sister and Mom to make the necessary decisions and set-up home hospice or what ever else may be needed. I’m [...]
