Oblitgatory Fireworks Shot

Yep…have to have at least one shot of the fireworks we were shooting off! LOL. Bri and David went and bought a big package of fireworks (safe and sane of course). I guess Doug had one left over from last year that still were viable, so Cameron shot those off.

The fourth was a tough day for Rochell. She was very emotional. I, personally, think that it was because it was the first holiday since Pop passed as well as the first family gathering since the funeral. She was really missing him.

Rather than stay home for the fourth, I had suggested to Rochell earlier in the week to have the crab we’d talked about a few months ago. Actually I suggested a good ole southern (Louisianna) crab boil. Poor Rochell didn’t get any kind of birthday celebration back at the beginning of June because Pop was still in the hospital. So I wanted it to be a kind of “Very Merry Un-Birthday”. I got all kinds of seafood (6lbs of shrimp, 6lbs King Crab Legs, 6 HUGE western Aussie Lobster Tails, 6 ears of corn, 2 pounds Kielbasa, and 6 Artichokes), made remoulade sauce, and bought a cake. Seasoned up some water and threw it in the big propane heated Turkey Fryer…only I had so much food I had to cook it in 2 batches. More than enough food for 10 of us…actually I think I could have fed at least 15!

After an early dinner we had some time to kill while we waited for sunset and the time to start the fireworks show. So Doug was kind enough to take some of us to the Skateboard park so I could play at shooting Cameron. I managed to get some decent shots, but didn’t realize until we were getting ready to leave that I was shooting Cam from the wrong angle and was shooting the back of his head the majority of the time. This is why I wanted to practice shooting a skateboarder…to learn how to do it! LOL! I promised I would print off some of the better shots for Cammy…aka “Curly-Q”.

When we returned from the park we all sat and visited while eating everyone’s favorite Chocolate-Chocolate-Chip Cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.  YUM!

We had a good time for the most part, but there was a bit of a grey cloud hanging over us with Pop missing.  Life goes on, it’s not always easy, but it sure keeps going!

Hope everyone had a happy and healthy 4th!!!
