Is Barack Obama really, REALLY, the President-Elect??? Could it really be???? Has the day I’ve been waiting for since his first speech at the DNC convention in 2004 really arrived??? Please tell me this isn’t a dream!!!
I’m almost at a loss for words! I can’t believe it. I’m so thankful he has won! I can picture Barack Obama as a young child, from a “broken” home, with a single parent Mom, thinking “I can be President of the United States”, and he did it. He really is “every-man”. He truly represents so much more of America than those that have been in power up until now. He is not a wealthy, white man! And he is our President-Elect.
I’m so thankful that he inspired so many people to vote…people who have never voted before. News quotes I heard said that this race inspired 54 million people to register to vote. WOW! He, and McCain, inspired 54 million people to get out and vote…to have their voices heard! Many of which were never moved to be heard before…many, I think, thought their voices didn’t count.
That is one of the many reasons I believe in Barack Obama…he has been so inspiring. He’s brought so much hope for a better and brighter future and country back into our lives. I truly hope he can continue to inspire and unify this country back to its glorious self.
Tonight, I am very proud to be an American.

Hubby called me at chorus rehearsal and I didn’t here the phone ring. When I arrived home, he was waiting outside as I got out of the car. We went inside and stood together in front of the TV as he replayed the Victory speech. I cried with joy and amazement!
I haven’t been proud of my country for a VERY long time. I feel as if I have just waken from a nightmarish storm that has lasted for 8 long years. Finally, the clouds and darkness have cleared, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the new day is so bright and full of possibilities that I am giddy with anticipation of what can and will be created.
I am very proud that the entire country chose to wake up.
I too, was very proud to be an American on 11.4.08, more so than any other day for a long, long time. I LOVED how inspired I felt after hearing our President Elect’s acceptance speech. It is what we should be and are about. I hope all the Republicans can get over the negativity and talk about what his skin color is. The main facts are, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE BECAUSE WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT COLORS. President Elect Barack was totally inspiring and I enjoyed every second he spoke. He made me proud that he was speaking for me and my country. I haven’t felt that way for 8 years. FINALLY – a breath of fresh air . . . . I am so looking forward to what he can accomplish, and especially the positive force behind him. Come on fellow Americans, step up, positive energy and action is what we all need. We can be the Americans our ancestors dreamed us to be. YES, WE CAN.
