Yesterday was a “Teacher Prep” day for the whole district, so David and Cameron were both out of school. I wanted to see “Inkheart”, but the boys both rallyed for “Paul Blart”. I’d heard enough from other parents to now it was funny enough that adults were going without the kids to see it.
So we saw Paul Blart. It was cheesy as all get out but we laughed like crazy nonetheless. The segway Kevin James rode throughout the movie provided a lot of the comedic opportunities…that and the fact that he took his security guard duties a little too seriously. Kind of reminded me of some of my male high school friends that did security work after high school…HONCHO! LOL!

Gran Torino
The other movie I saw was “Gran Torino”. I’m a huge Eastwood fan ever since I saw “Dead Pool” for the first time. Now, I’m not that big on Westerns, but I do believe I’ve seen almost all of his. Anyway…I had been anxious to see this one and it didn’t disappoint me.
The acting was a bit cheesy at times, think “Dirty Harry, Retired”…there was one instance where I was just itching for him to say “Make My Day”, but he didn’t. If you are easily offended by racial epithets, though, this would not be the movie for you to see!!! Ultimately I did like the storyline and the young lady who played the teenage neighbor girl did a fantastic job. The story, did have me laughing a lot and in the end I did fall in love with Eastwood’s Walt Kowalski. I would definitely watch it again.
Lot’s of Hollywood “Insiders” were surprised Eastwood wasn’t nominated for any Academy Awards…I wasn’t. This movie is not of the same caliber of “Unforgiven” or “Million-Dollar Baby”, nor is Eastwood’s portrayal of Kowalski.
