Since I’ve had Luis here working on the house, I’ve been more aware of other houses that are getting a “facelift”. Kind of like when you are trying to get pregnant, it seems that no matter where you go you see gazillions of pregnant women.
Since we’ve decided to sell our house, I’ve also noticed the number of houses up for sale everywhere I go. Often, it’s the houses that were recently worked on that have new “For Sale” signs in front of them.
So it occured to me…”Why do we wait until we are looking to leave the house, to spend the money on upgrades?”. I feel like, “Why are we spending all this time and money making our house GORGEOUS, when we aren’t going to hang around and enjoy it?” It took me a while, but finally it dawned on me. The only way I can afford to spend this money on the facelift, is to put it all on a charge card and to pay it off out of the proceeds of the home sale.
Ultimately the answer to my question is that; I couldn’t afford to do this facelift if I weren’t going to sell the house. UGH! Anybody know where I can find a money tree to transplant into my backyard?

The money tree seeds will begin after your garage sale! BUT – keep those seeds for you to plant in your new home. My personal opinion is not to fix up your house. If I was a buyer, I would want to buy a little cheaper and be able to re-do things the way I want/my choices. (As the seller, you might think new carpet is what will make it sell, as the buyer, I might want to rip it out and put wood floors in! ) But I think your observations are SPOT ON!
p.s. I need a garage sale scrapbooking sneak peek, or at least a heads up when you are having it!
