Just couldn’t resist snapping a picture of the puppies, snuggled up in front of the fire.
We had been unable to get our fireplace started…But then we haven’t had any heat either. Did I mention the temp has been in the 20′s? Hmmm…I might bit cold for the furnace not to be working.
Brian initially thought it was the thermostat that was trashed…so I went to Walmart to buy on of those digital programmable ones like we had in Vegas. Brian was up early because he was cold and changed out the thermostat…the furnace still wasn’t working worth a damn.
So, we got on the phone and called the local heating guy. Kent said it would be about an hour but he would be over. He spent the better part of 5 hours looking for the problem! (shit, I’m going to hate getting that bill!) Kent finally got up on the roof of the house to discover the furnace vent had a gap that allowed the exhaust to back in the fresh air intake…no oxygen, no flame, no heat! Which means it’s something that the place we bought the house from has to fix…only they are closed until Monday with forecasted temp ranges from 14-24 degrees. CCCCCOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDD!!!!!
Thankfully Kent and Brian figured out a way to get fresh air to the flame, but it means keeping the back door open…which kind of sucks…but at least the furnace is running…but we don’t dare run it at night when we are sleeping for fear of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
While Kent was here though…he was able to get the fireplace working and hook up the blower so we could use the fireplace to heat the family room.
When I first walked in this house and saw the fireplace, I had one of those romantisized visions of the dogs warming themselves at the hearth…today it happened…and I had to capture it. It’s not a great picture, you can see I haven’t put the fireplace back together and color is off because I didn’t have a flash unit handy, but it’s my puppies, and they are parked on old pillows, in front of the hearth…happily snuggled together and warm. Awwwww!
Have I mentioned, I love my house!
