David and I were coming home from his final basketball game for the season (YEAH!) when we started talking about video games. He really wants a PS2 game called “God of War” but it’s rated M for mature.
David asked why it was rated M. I explained that it was for a number of reasons and some of them were completely inappropriate for a 10 (almost 11) year old. He asked if it was because of sex! So I asked him if he knew what sex was. “I think so” was his reply. So I asked what he thought it was…and he said:
“It’s when a man and a woman get naked and kiss and hug and do other disturbing things.”
As usual I lost it. Once I recovered from my hysterical laughter, I told him that we would discuss it in greater detail when he was a little older, but in the meantime if he had questions I would prefer he ask me rather than some of his friends who may give him completely wrong information like my friends did when I was his age.
“Yeah, OK,” he said, “now can I get the game or not?”
