I have a new Blog

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to keep track of recipes that I’ve tried that the boys want me to make again.  Soooo, I decided to start another blog that will have those recipes.  You can get to it from my Blogroll listing on the left side. My blog link is titled, “My [...]

Pho…fa?

The photo is courtesy of T and N Pho in Poulsbo, WA. I wanted to take Porter and Taya out to dinner last night…the least I could do considering how crazy busy they are pulling the wedding together. Taya actually worked yesterday and had a ton of errands to run after work so that left [...]

Mmmmm Reuben Soup!

Are you a fan of Reuben Sandwiches? I am not! LOL…but I found a recipe for Reuben Soup online last fall and I LOVE IT! Never thought I would. Mostly I made it for Brian because Reuben’s are his absolute favorite…I am not a fan of sauerkraut, but it’s so good in this soup. Can [...]

Looking Forward to Thanksgiving

This will be the first Thanksgiving where I am doing all the cooking…and I am looking forward to it.  In previous years I’ve always been intimidated by the mere thought of “hosting” Thanksgiving.  I’m kind of surprised that I am looking forward to it.  Is it my renewed joy of cooking? Or cooking in this [...]

New Sammy Creation!

This is the Panini Press Bri got me for Xmas last year. It’s been in storage and I’ve missed it!  Now that we are in the house, I had it readily available, but hadn’t used it. I took it off the shelf today and created a new sandwich that was TO DIE FOR!! When I [...]

My Yeast Infection!

LOL!  No, it’s not that kind!  I wrote previously that I was going to start learning how to bake.  I started out trying to create a sourdough starter from scratch.  That didn’t work! Then, over the weekend I decided to make pizza dough from scratch.  I followed the directions to the LETTER!!!  But the dough [...]

Crossing off an item from Life’s To-Do List

Something I’ve always wanted to learn to do is bake bread.  I had intended to do it last fall/winter, but the time got away from me and I never did get around to it.  I WILL do it this Fall! I finally broke down and bought this book.  It’s a book that has been on [...]

Are you ready for a “Gut-buster”?

If you are from Southern California…you are probably painfully (pun intended) aware of Tommy’s and Tommy Burgers.  Tommy’s was started 60 years ago at the corner of Beverly and Rampart.  It was, and still is, a shack with wood 2×4′s put up on the surrounding buildings to make a “bar” where you could stand and [...]
